2 people in critical condition after crash on Don Valley Parkway

Two people are in life-threatening condition after a crash that shut down part of the southbound Don Valley Parkway.
Toronto police said there were reports that a car hit a wall on the parkway approaching York Mills Road, which is just south of Highway 401.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Toronto police said the crash happened after a Nissan Sentra travelling “at a high rate of speed” south on the Don Valley Parkway hit a Chevrolet Silverado going the same way.
The Nissan reportedly lost control and hit a barrier on the west side of the road.
The driver was rushed to hospital and the passenger was extricated by Toronto firefighters, police said.
Paramedics told Global News they transported a man and a woman, both in their 20s, to a trauma centre in critical, life-threatening condition.
Police later clarified that a 42-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were the two people taken to hospital.
The southbound DVP was closed from Highway 401 to York Mills Road as officers conducted a reconstruction of the crash due to the extent of injuries.
It reopened on Wednesday evening.
COLLISION– southbound DVP from 401 to York Mills completely closed for traffic reconstruction due to extent of injuries– southbound 404 must exit to east or west 401; no access to southbound DVP– no access to southbound DVP from eastbound or westbound 401#GO445004 ^vk
